John Jensen, of Te Puke
John Jensen received the Queen's Service Medal for services to agriculture. Mr Jensen has carried out voluntary work in the Te Puke area for more than half a century. He has served in numerous positions with the Te Puke Agricultural and Pastoral Association, including as President and as Patron, and in 2006 produced a well-received book in commemoration of the centennial of the Te Puke A&P Show. He also has a long-time involvement with Federated Farmers; was Chairperson of the Te Puke branch for 15 years and served on the provincial and national executive. He served on the Bay of Plenty Pest Board for 20 years, the Fairhaven School Committee, the Te Puke Community Patrol Group, and has been the Bay of Plenty region judge for the Sharemilker of the Year Award and the Ballance Farm Environment Award. Mr Jensen is currently a councillor on the Seeka Kiwifruit Growers Council.
