Geoffrey Horne
Professor Geoffrey Horne, of Wellington, received the Insignia of an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to medicine. Professor Horne is an orthopaedic surgeon and has been Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Wellington School of Medicine and Health Science for more than 20 years, he is the only orthopaedic surgeon in New Zealand to hold this position. Under his leadership, the department has built up the strongest academic record of any university surgical department in New Zealand. He was the President of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association, where he worked to secure extra funding for the Orthopaedic Joint Replacement Initiative. For Professor Horne contributes to and attends the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of the Society for Biomedical Research, was an editorial board member of the Injury journal and the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. Professor Horne helped establish and is Chair of the Wellington Surgical Research Trust.
