David Adamson, Invercargill, QSM
For services to the New Zealand Fire Service. Mr Adamson has committed more than 20 years to the forest and rural fire management sector, particularly as the Local Government representative on the National Rural Fire Advisory Committee, a role which he has held for 11 years. The establishment of the Southern Rural Fire Authority, made up of representatives from the local authorities, the Fire Service, the forestry industry, and the Department of Conservation, was initiated and led by Mr Adamson. He has been a representative on a number of boards and committees over an extended period of time, including being Chair of the Fire and Rescue Services Industry Training Organisation. Mr Adamson has also been the Chief Executive Officer of the Southland District Council since 2004.
