John Wong
John Wong, of Northpark, received the Queen's Service Medal for services to the ethnic community. Mr Wong has been involved in the wider Chinese community since 1992. Mr Wong, pictured after the ceremony with family, friends and the Minister of Ethnic Affairs, Hon Pansy Wong (3rd from left), has contributed to the wellbeing of new migrants and ethnic groups with his involvement in a wide range of community organisations. He is Director of Asian Services at the Problem Gambling Foundation of New Zealand, Chairman of the Chinese New Settlers Services, and the Chinese Positive Ageing Charitable Trust. He is a member of the Asian Network, the Auckland Regional Migrant Services Charitable Trust and the Ethnic Voice New Zealand. Mr Wong is a counsellor with Chinese Lifeline and co-ordinator of the New Zealand Chinese Youth Trust.
