Virginia Chong, of Auckland, QSM, for services to the Chinese community
Virginia Chong was the first woman National President of the New Zealand Chinese Association. She is a Trustee of the Chinese Poll Tax Heritage Trust, an active member of the Auckland Chinese Community Centre, and a member of the Women Leaders network. She has had a successful career in local government as a member of the Eden/Albert Community Board Auckland City and its predecessor. She was a Foundation Trustee and Council representative on the community trust tasked with raising funds and restoring the Mt Eden Methodist Church. Ms Chong was a member of the New Zealand China Council Advisory Board.
