Squadron Leader Peter Cochran, of Feilding, for services to the New Zealand Defence Force
Peter Cochran is a key figure in Royal New Zealand Air Force pilot training. After enlisting in the RNZAF, he became a Qualified Flying Instructor and took part in an instructor exchange with the Royal Australian Air Force. He was later posted to the Central Flying School, where he served for 22 years, with the exception of four operational tours to the Middle East and Afghanistan. He was a member of the ‘Red Checkers’ display team for sixteen seasons. After retiring, Squadron Leader Cochran returned to service as a member of the Active Reserve, and is currently engaged as a part-time simulator operator with the Helicopter Synthetic Training Centre.
