Professor John Nacey, of Wellington,CNZM, for services to health and education
Professor John Nacey was appointed to the New Zealand Medical Council and, as Chair of the Education Committee, led the development and implementation of significant changes to prevocational medical training in New Zealand. He was Chair of the New Zealand Task Force on Prostate Cancer and then became Chair of the programme to implement the Task Force’s recommendations. As a lecturer at the University of Otago, he chaired the Faculty Curriculum Committee. He was Dean of the Wellington School of Medicine and supervised a major building programme to improve the school’s facilities. He oversaw the opening of the School of Radiation Therapy on the University of Otago Wellington Campus. Professor Nacey is a leader of the Wellington Prostate Brachytherapy Group and has chaired reviews of the New Zealand Cancer Registry.
