Sergeant Andy Brooke, of Palmerston North, QSM, for services to Search and Rescue
Sergeant Andy Brooke has been employed with the New Zealand Police since 1981. He is Chairman of the Palmerston North Search and Rescue Group and Officer in Charge of the Manawatu Police Search and Rescue Squad. He organised and ran bushcraft courses for the Mountain Safety Council Manawatu Branch. He is a founding member, programme coordinator and gear custodian of Outdoor Training New Zealand. He is a tutor in Tai Poutini Polytechnic’s Emergency Management Department and a LandSAR Training instructor. Sergeant Brooke helped set up Wandersearch in the Manawatu, which uses radio tracking to locate people at risk of wandering.
