Dr John McKoy, MNZM, of Porirua, for services to fisheries science and environment management
Dr John McKoy was Chief Scientist, Fisheries, for the New Zealand National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research and Director of Fisheries Research for the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. He has contributed to or led numerous international assessments of fisheries stocks. He chaired the National Rock Lobster Management Group. He has volunteered his expertise to local and regional environmental initiatives including Friends of Taupō Swamp and Catchment. He was Chair of Pāuatahanui Inlet Community Trust. He is a committee member of Guardians of Pāuatahanui Inlet. He was President of Friends of Mana Island. Dr McKoy was community representative on the Te Awarua-o-Porirua Whaitua Committee.
