Professor Marc Shaw, of Hamilton, MNZM for services to travel health
Professor Marc Shaw is the Medical Director of Worldwise. His seven clinics provide advice for travellers both pre- and post-travel, administer immunisations, conduct research, and provide educational services for other health professionals and travel health consultants. He has created links with Australia’s James Cook University. He is Medical Director of GeoSentinel Surveillance, a network focussed on detecting, monitoring, alerting and treating travel-related diseases. He led a post-exposure rabies study in returning patients to New Zealand, contributing to future management of rabies vaccination procedures. He is on the editorial boards of travel medicine journals. Professor Shaw has received multiple awards for outstanding contributions to travel medicine, including from the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta.
