Mr Alan McIntyre, JP, of Auckland, MNZM for services to education
Mr Alan McIntyre was a pioneer of international student programmes at the primary level, and implemented an international teaching exchange programme and a sister-school relationship between Owairoa Primary School and Chaotian Primary School in Guangzhou. He introduced the Digital Dream Lab classroom, where students learn science and technology through 3D printing, VR headsets, drones, and robotics, and implemented the ‘Super Start’ programme to introduce pre-schoolers to the school. He is a mentor to fellow principals and represented New Zealand’s education sector in a trilateral school partnership between Guangzhou, Los Angeles and Auckland. Mr McIntyre is a Justice of the Peace and served a three-year term as Manukau City Councillor.
