Mr Morris Pita, of Auckland, MNZM for services to governance, business and Māori
Mr Morris Pita (Ngātiwai, Ngāti Hine) helped establish the Ngā Awa Purua and Ngā Tamariki geothermal power stations, and assisted Tūwharetoa and Lake Rotoaira Trust Boards in negotiations regarding use of their lake beds for hydro storage. As a member of his hāpū trust, Whangaroa Ngaiotonga, he led the reclamation of whenua and its transformation into an award-winning farming business. He established Tai Pari Mōhio Ltd, the creator of the software platform Emergency Q, which reduces overcrowding in hospital emergency departments. He co-founded Tūruki Pharmacy in South Auckland, pioneering affordable medicines for low-income whānau. Mr Pita served on the Waitematā and Auckland District Health Boards and was a member of the Eden Park Trust Board.
