Haami Chapman, QSM, Auckland
For services to Māori. Mr Haami Chapman, of Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Whakatōhea and Ngāti Porou, was the Chair of the Restorative Justice Project in Counties Manukau and co-founded the Awhi Foundation and Houhanga Ronga Trust. He has worked in the South Auckland community for more than 15 years, and before this in Turangi and Cannons Creek, mostly in a voluntary capacity. Much of his work is with gang members. Through the Houhanga Rongo Trust, Mr Chapman offers supported accommodation and counselling and helps people find work. He is a former trustee of and advisor to World Vision New Zealand. He was the first Chair of the Computer Clubhouse Trust, which aims to give children in underprivileged homes access to computers. He has facilitated and spoken at conferences in New Zealand, as well as to indigenous organisations in the United States and Australia. He has been Chair of the Māori Christian Alliance.
