Helen Hay, QSM, Wellington
For services to the community. Mrs Helen Hay has served her church and the Johnsonville community in a voluntary capacity for more than 50 years. Mrs Hay contributed to the formation of a combined Presbyterian and Methodist church in Johnsonville in the late 1960s, and has been actively involved with the Johnsonville Uniting Church since that time as Parish Elder, Pastoral Convenor, and Mission and Community Committee Convenor. Since 1975, she has volunteered for Care and Craft, a national organisation that provides support for home-bound older people, including acting as its supervisor. She was very active in the Methodist Women’s Fellowship organisation, and has just retired from working for the Methodist Synod. For more than 10 years, she has provided administrative support in the National Office of the Uniting Congregations of Aotearoa New Zealand, in Wellington. Mrs Hay has been a member of the Johnsonville Community Centre Management Committee since 1993, helping to oversee the running of the Johnsonville Community Centre.
