Arthur Loo, QSM, Auckland
For services to the Chinese community. Mr Arthur Loo has contributed to the Chinese community in Auckland for more than 40 years. He has worked to raise the profile of the Chinese community as an integral and positive contributor to New Zealand society. Through the Auckland Community Centre, he has enabled people to maintain cultural links through the provision of language classes, dance classes and traditional and contemporary arts. He has contributed strongly to the Chinese community and to the wider community through chairing the Foundation for Alcohol and Drug Education, the Leukemia and Blood Foundation of New Zealand and as a trustee and Chair of SKYCITY Auckland Community Trust. He has held office with a number other community organisations, including the Chinese Sports Club, the Auckland Ethnic Council and the Auckland Tung Jung Association. Mr Loo was a member of the Poll Tax Advisory Team from 2002 to 2004.
