Margaret Tapper, Auckland, ONZM, for services to education and the community
Mrs Margaret Tapper has made a significant contribution to the development of the Auckland University of Technology and the Diocesan School for Girls as well as giving continued service to several health foundations. She had an 11-year involvement with the Auckland Institute of Technology, including time as Deputy Chair of the AIT Council. She was a member of the AIT Council’s University Status Working Group, that oversaw the transition to the Auckland University of Technology. She chaired the charitable fundraising arm of AIT, the AIT Foundation, from 1991 to 1995. She was on the school board of the Diocesan School for Girls from 1986-1996, and Chair and continued trustee of the Doris Innes House Trust Board from 1988. She is patron of the school’s Heritage Foundation. She has been a member of the South Auckland Health Foundation since 2003 and a board member of the Caughey Preston Trust for 14 years. Mrs Tapper has been Deputy Chair of the Auckland Regional Services Trust, Director of Infrastructure Auckland, a member of the 1989 New Zealand Planning Council and a Tenancy Tribunal Adjudicator.
