John Linton, QSM, Te Puke.
For services to the community. Mr John Linton is a longstanding member of the Te Puke Night Owls patrol, a volunteer night and day patrol, which was established in 2002 with the aim of making Te Puke township a safer place. He has been a member of the Eagles Golfing Society for the last 20 years. This charitable organisation raises funds for the Halberg Trust, which primarily benefits disabled athletes. He is an Elder of the Te Puke Presbyterian Church. Until 2000 he gave the use of his farm, including pasture, sheds and sheep, to the farm cadet training scheme to give young people skills in agriculture and shearing. Mr Linton worked with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on improving grazing systems for beef and sheep farms.
