Dr Nicolaas Lambrechtsen, QSM, Wellington.
For services to the Indonesian community. Dr Nick Lambrechtsen is a member and Deputy Chair of the Rehabilim Trust Inc, which helps to rehabilitate physically disabled children in Indonesia. He has been involved with the trust for almost 20 years and has visited three times to help maintain the rehabilitation centre and to investigate establishing an orchid propagation facility. He was President of the Wellington New Zealand Indonesia Association for 14 years, until 2005 when he became Vice President. He has been involved with the New Zealand Netherlands Foundation as a trustee and from 2006 as honorary secretary. Since 1998, Dr Lambrechtsen has managed the despatch of the Foundation’s publication ‘Tasman’s Legacy’, which records the history of the Dutch in New Zealand.
