Anne Hurley and Margaret Martin
Sister Anne Hurley (centre) and Sister Margaret Martin, of Manukau, received the Queen's Service Medal for services to the community. Sister Anne and Sister Margaret have contributed to the welfare of the Wiri community in Manukau for more than 20 years. In 1988 the established a social service agency, which provides many community programmes, including home visitation and health promotion. They were involved in the establishment of the Wiri Community Hall. Sister Anne was a member of the Manurewa Community Board and involved with the Manukau Housing Scheme and was the Catholic representative on the New Zealand Council of Christian Social Services. Sister Martin was a member of the boards of the Friendship House Trust and a member of Te Ora o Manukau Healthy City Committee.
