Fifteen Winston Churchill Memorial Trust (WCMT) fellows are to be honoured today at a special awards ceremony at Government House.
The WCMT assists New Zealanders to travel overseas to learn more about other people and cultures and research best practice, in order for them to return to New Zealand and share their new knowledge with their community.
Fellows to be recognised tomorrow conducted research into a broad range of topics, from household energy supply, to e-learning in schools, hydrogen technology, youth mentoring programmes and bereavement follow-up practices for families.
His Excellency Hon Anand Satyanand, Governor-General of New Zealand will present the awards and will speak. The Minister for the Community and Voluntary Sector Luamanuvao Winnie Laban and Chair of the WCMT, Dr Charles Royal will also speak.
Luamanuvao Winnie Laban will be available for interviews throughout the afternoon.

Mr Tim Armstrong - Eastbourne, Lower Hutt
Mr. Armstrong travelled to the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States of America to research new technology and innovations relating to the supply of energy to domestic homes generated from renewable resources.
Ms Anna Jane Cameron - Oriental Bay, Wellington
Ms Cameron conducted investigative research of the international marketplace for New Zealand theatre and plays in United Kingdom, US and Canada.
Ms Gerardine Clifford - Newlands, Wellington
Ms Clifford travelled to the United Kingdom to research family violence programmes for 3rd and 4th generation migrant populations in urban low-socio-economic communities.
Mr Robin Cox - Glenfield, Auckland
Mr Cox travelled to Canada, the United States of America and Australia to study and network with internationally credible youth mentoring programmes to inform and expand youth mentoring in New Zealand.
Ms Jane Drumm - Mt Eden, Auckland
Ms Drumm travelled to the United Kingdom to study innovative programmes working to assist families who are victims of domestic violence.
Ms Betty Jeanne Eydt - Berhampore, Wellington
Ms Eydt travelled to the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia to identify resources, practices and issues about elder abuse and neglect prevention and intervention.
Mr Reg Harris - Boulcott, Lower Hutt
Mr Harris travelled to the United Kingdom to visit manufacturing centres and study major production industries, enabling him to produce guidelines on international best practice.
Ms Denise Henigan - Nelson
Ms Henigan travelled to Australia, Holland and the United Kingdom to investigate how cities can develop an infrastructure which creates a safer more attractive and sustainable local environment.
Mr Errol Hitt - Rangiora
Mr Hitt travelled to Iran, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Mexico and the USA to research the growing, history and production of Saffron and will produce a recipe book to heighten New Zealanders 'awareness of saffron and its production in New Zealand.
Mrs Jayne Huggard - Titirangi, Auckland
Mrs Huggard visited palliative care centres in the United Kingdom and Canada, studying the provision of bereavement follow-up practices for families of hospice patients, and the staff support programmes for members of multi-disciplinary palliative care teams.
Mr Qiangfu Jin - Ilam, Christchurch
Mr Jin visited China to investigate underlying causes behind the social problems of young Asian/Chinese students in New Zealand.
Mrs Charitee Leslie - Burwood, Christchurch
Mrs. Leslie travelled to the United States of America to study the "Art Realisation Technique" as a means for self expression.
Ms Yola Macken - Birkenhead, Auckland
Ms Macken visited businesses in the United Kingdom and United States to study training programmes that support the development of an entrepreneurial culture.
Mr Graham McBride - Hamilton
Mr McBride travelled to Australia and the United States to investigate management options for contaminated land in New Zealand.
Ms Moya McConnell - Dunedin
Ms McConnell travelled to Scotland to investigate restorative justice practice, with particular attention to shuttle mediation, post sentence and facilitator training.
Mr Brent Skinnon - Lower Hutt
Mr Skinnon studied examples of excellence in organic farming production and marketing on a regional scale, with the aim of enhancing similar initiatives in New Zealand.
Mrs Marilyn Thompson - Wakari, Dunedin
Mrs Thompson investigated e-learning strategies used in a cluster of Scottish schools to develop further knowledge of effective e-learning practices.
Ms Susan Wake - Mt Albert, Auckland
Ms Wake visited a number of childrens' gardens in USA to investigate the link between educational theory and garden design.
Ms Bernadine Walsh - Whitianga
Ms Walsh travelled to Singapore and the United Kingdom to study the implementation of sustainable transport policy.
Dr Guodong Yuan - Palmerston North
Dr Yaun studied the Canadian policy on, and advances in, hydrogen technology and endeavoured to develop linkages with Canadian institutions and scientists for the benefit of New Zealand
