The Governor-General of New Zealand, Hon Anand Satyanand, and Mrs Susan Satyanand, will travel to Gisborne this week for the start of a six day regional visit.
During their visit, they will visit the Poverty Bay Spring Show, visit three schools, conservation projects, businesses and open the Family Court Judges Conference.
The Governor-General said he was looking forward to visiting Gisborne.
"As a lawyer, judge and ombudsman, I made several visits to Gisborne but apart from briefly visiting the district in September last year, this will be my first visit since being appointed as Governor-General in August 2006. I am looking forward to meeting many of the people who make this region special and learning more of its future plans."

10.30am: Visits Manutuke Community Health programme.
3pm: Visits Juken New Zealand Ltd forestry mill.
Wednesday 22 October:
9.30am: Visits Leaderbrand Produce.
1.45pm: Attends powhiri at Te Poho o Rawiri Marae
3.30pm: Opens the NZ Family Court Conference 2008, Portside Hotel
Thursday 23 October:
10.45am: Visits Department of Conservation weka project, Motu.
1.30pm: Visits Whinray Ecological Trust kiwi creche
3pm: VisitsMotuSchool.
