The Governor-General of New Zealand, Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae, will make a five day visit to Southland next week.
Sir Jerry Mateparae and Lady Janine Mateparae will begin the visit with a welcome on to Murihiku Marae in Invercargill on Monday 24 September.
The five day visit will include hosting a civic reception in Gore to mark the district’s 150th anniversary, attending the Southland v Northland match at Rugby Park as well as a visit to Stewart Island. On their final day (Friday 28 September), they will visit Southland Disabilities Enterprises Ltd to present a 30-year service certificate before flying to Christchurch to attend a reception to mark the opening of the Antarctic season.
