Media Advisory – visit of Australia’s Governor-General for Anzac Day


The Governors-General of Australia and New Zealand will join together on Anzac Day to mark the centenary of the ANZAC forces’ landing at Gallipoli.


The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, His Excellency General The Hon Sir Peter Cosgrove and Lady Cosgrove will join the Governor-General, Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae and Lady Janine at the Dawn Service at the National War Memorial in Wellington.


Sir Jerry and Sir Peter will both speak at the ceremony and will lay wreaths on behalf of the people of New Zealand and Australia.


Later in the day, Sir Jerry and Lady Janine will join Sir Peter and Lady Cosgrove for the Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
