The Governor-General, Rt Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, will recognise the bravery and service of a wide range of New Zealanders at three investiture ceremonies at Government House in Auckland this week.
The ceremonies will be held on Wednesday 27 July at 10am and on Thursday 28 July at 10am and 2.30pm.
The Wednesday ceremony will acknowledge seven New Zealanders who were recognised in a special bravery honours list released in April. Three of the awards are posthumous and will be received by members of the recipient’s family.
The Thursday ceremonies will recognise New Zealanders honoured in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours list. Some of those honoured include philanthropist Sir James Wallace, philanthropist Dame Rosemary Horton, broadcaster John Hawkesby, former Auckland Mayor John Banks, nurse educator Dr Margaret Horsburgh and cricketer Daniel Vettori.
Media wanting to attend must contact Public Affairs Manager, Antony Paltridge, on 021 470 583 by 5.30pm on the day before the ceremony. Media are reminded that a reasonable standard of dress is expected at Government House.
