Governor-General to visit Dunedin

Dunedin Railway Station.

An investiture ceremony and visits to schools and community organisations will see Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand and Lady Satyanand, visit Dunedin next week for a three day visit.

The visit will begin on Tuesday (8 September) with an investiture ceremony at Larnach Castle where 21 people will be invested with New Zealand honours.  Some of those being invested include Otago University educationalist Professor Terry Crooks, Knox College Master Bruce Aitken, Otago broadcaster Neil Collins, Christchurch Deputy Mayor Norm Withers and Christchurch's Wizard.  (full list is attached)

Tuesday 8 September 2009:
10.30am  Investiture ceremony, Larnach Castle. 
(Media wanting to attend must register with Public Affairs Manager, Antony Paltridge on 021 470 583 by 5pm on Monday 7 September)
 
2.30pm:  Redesignation ceremony for Dame Lois Muir, Dunedin Club,
33 Melville St, Dunedin.

Wednesday 9 September 2009:
10.45am  Visit to Strath Taieri School, Swansea St, Middlemarch.
(Media welcome)

12.20pm: Visit to Middlemarch Community Centre for luncheon hosted by Rural Women New Zealand and Royal New Zealand Plunket Society.
(Media welcome for opening speeches and presentations)

Thursday 10 September 2009:
10am: Official opening of the refurbished Manaaki Block, Otago Polytechnic, Forth St, Dunedin. (Media welcome)

2.30pm Launch of the Habitat for Humanity's ReStore facility, Cnr Vogel and Gordon streets. (Media welcome)

3.30pm Visit to a Habitat for Humanity housing project, 126 Ashmore St, Dunedin (Media welcome)
