New Zealand film director Sir Peter Jackson, Rugby Sevens coach Sir Gordon Tietjens, businessman Craig Heatley, former All Whites coach John Adshead, former Red Cross President Penny Mason, cartoonist Bob Brockie, choreographer Deirdre Tarrant and well-known Wellington brothers Ian and John McKinnon are among the 127 people whose achievements will be celebrated at investiture ceremonies at Government House in Wellington next week.
The Governor-General, Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae, and Lady Janine Mateparae, will host six investiture ceremonies at Government House Wellington on Monday 16 September (10am and 2.30pm), Tuesday 17 September (10am and 2.30pm) and Wednesday 18 September (10am and 2.30pm).
Sir Peter Jackson will be invested with the country’s highest honour the Order of New Zealand while Sir Gordon will be made a Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to rugby. Craig Heatley and Deirdre Tarrant will be made Companions of the New Zealand Order of Merit with Dr Bob Brockie becoming a Member of the Order. John Adshead and Penny Mason will both become Officers of the New Zealand Order of Merit. Ian McKinnon will be made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit while his brother John will receive the Insignia of a Companion of the Queens Service Order.
