New Zealand’s gift to the Royal Wedding of HRH Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton will be a donation to the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.
The Prince and Miss Middleton have nominated the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal as one of the charities that wedding presents can be directed.
The Governor-General, Rt Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, and the Prime Minister, Rt Hon John Key, on behalf of the people of New Zealand, will donate $10,000 to the Appeal.
Sir Anand welcomed the generosity of Prince William and Miss Middleton in nominating the Appeal as a charity to support.
“New Zealanders welcomed Prince William’s presence at the National Memorial Service and his tribute to the strength and character of the people of Christchurch in the aftermath of February’s tragic earthquake. This gift will further strengthen those bonds and will help meet the real needs of Christchurch people as they rebuild their city.”
